Wild About Borneo

an Island of Unsurpassed Biodiversity
Sun bears and clouded leopards roam Borneo’s rainforests, while proboscis monkeys climb the trees with remarkable agility. Only about a thousand pygmy elephants remain in a single corner of the island and elusive rhinoceroses hang on to survival in tiny pockets of habitat.

Yet perhaps the most charismatic inhabitants are the orangutans — gentle, intelligent, and deeply symbolic of Borneo’s rich biodiversity. This gallery captures moments of their lives in the forest, alongside the incredible array of wildlife that makes the island one of the most remarkable and threatened ecosystems on Earth.
